2010 Young Artists Competition Finalists announced
The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra is pleased to announce the following finalists for the 2010 Young Artists Competition.
Finalists will perform on the Final round recital on Monday, March 15, 2010, at 6pm in Jacoby Symphony Hall. This recital is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Finalists will be competing to perform their piece as soloists with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the annual Major/Minor concert on May 7, 2010, as well as receive a $1000 scholarship from the Guild of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
The jury has advanced the following 9 musicians to the final round (in no particular order):
Likai He, violin - Mendelssohn, Concerto in E minor, 3rd movement
Rachel Han, violin - Mendelssohn, Concerto in E minor, 1st movement
Robert Polidan, trumpet - Arutunian, Concerto
Maria Vaccaro, oboe - Vaughan Williams, Concerto in A minor, 1st movement
Orlando Diaz, piano - Grieg, Concerto in A minor, 1st movement
Brian Schaeffer, clarinet - Francaix, Concerto, 1st movement
Allison Watkins, flute - Faure, Fantasie
Gabriela Pena, violin - Bruch, Concerto #1 in G minor, 1st movement
Sam Casseday, double bass - Bottesini, Concerto #2 in b minor, 1st movement

2010 Young Artists Competition Information
The final round of the 2010 Young Artists Competition will be presented in recital format and open to the public on March 15, 2010 at Jacoby Symphony Hall. Finalists will be competing for the opportunity to perform as soloists with the Jacksonville Symphony at the annual Major/Minor concert on May 7th.
